About the Role

We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team at our Taste & Nutrition Manufacturing facility in Runcorn. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in keeping our production equipment running safely and efficiently. This opportunity has arisen due to the planned retirement of a team member. You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement activities to maximize equipment reliability and plant performance.

It is a permanent, full-time position operating on early and late shifts from Monday to Friday, alternating between 5:30 am – 1:30 pm and 1:15 pm – 9:15 pm, with a specific schedule on Friday 5:30 am – 12:30 pm and 12:15 pm – 7:15 pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with the health and safety policy and regulations
  • Carry out risk assessments with relevant people and put controls in place to minimise the risk to acceptable levels where reasonably practicable
  • Lock off any dangerous machinery immediately, repair and notify
  • Resolve breakdowns, carry out PMs and work on project/improvement works with a view to minimizing production downtime
  • Actively undertake PMs on offline machinery where time allows
  • Fully complete PM sheets with all observations, jobs completed and recommendations and file with the Maintenance Planner, whilst always looking at ways of improving PMs
  • Actively gain as much information as possible from production personnel regarding the fault on the machine to speed up the fault-finding process
  • Ensure engineering log and computer systems are fully filled in with all relevant information including PM numbers, all used parts, plant numbers, urgency of required parts, at the end of each shift
  • Ensure all communications with external persons are conducted in a professional manner which reflects the company profile

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified multi-skilled engineer with mechanical and/or electrical expertise
  • Strong experience in manufacturing maintenance and equipment reliability
  • Excellent fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record in PPM, breakdown reduction and continuous improvement
  • Collaborative, hands‑on approach with the ability to support others
  • Experience with SAP is an advantage
