We are currently recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Technician to join the Engineering Team at our Gainsborough manufacturing site, a high-volume food production facility operating 24/7 across multiple process areas. In this role, you will carry out PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance) and reactive maintenance on a range of automated production and utility assets, with a strong focus on plant availability, safety, and compliance. Depending on the day and operational needs, you will work either as part of a maintenance team or autonomously. You will be supporting a fast-paced, continuous process environment covering areas such as milling, blending, extrusion, and crumb production. This is a permanent, full-time position, operating on a 4-on / 4-off shift pattern.
Key responsibilities:
- Complying with the health and safety policy and regulations.
- Carrying out risk assessments with the relevant people and putting controls in place to minimise the risk to acceptable levels where reasonably practicable.
- Locking off any dangerous machinery immediately or repairing and notifying.
- Resolving breakdowns, carrying out PMs and working on project/improvement works with a view to minimising production downtime.
- Actively seeking to undertake PMs on offline machinery where time allows.
- Fully completing PM sheets with all observations, jobs completed and recommendations and filing with the Maintenance Planner, whilst always looking at ways of improving PMs.
- Actively gaining as much information as possible from production personnel regarding the fault on the machine to speed up the fault-finding process.
- Ensuring engineering log and computer systems are fully filled in with all relevant information including PM numbers, all used parts, plant numbers, urgency of required parts, at the end of each shift.
- Ensuring all communications with external persons are conducted in a professional manner which reflects the company profile.
Qualifications and skills:
- HNC, City & Guilds or time served apprentice with appropriate engineering qualifications.
- Experience within a similar role ideally gained within a food manufacturing environment; if not food, experience within any manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Electrically biased, or multi-skilled.
- Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems experience highly desirable.
- Flexible approach with a positive 'can-do' attitude.
- Experience of SAP highly desirable.
