About the role
We are now in the final stages of construction on two new productions lines at our Coleraine manufacturing facility, which sits on the banks of the River Bann. To ensure the highest possible standards, we are currently recruiting for a Hygiene Lead who will work closely with all departments to develop Hygiene standards on site to meet the needs of the customer and Kerry Global Standards. This is a permanent, full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring all Global and Customer standards are adhered to.
- Responsible for the management of all chemicals supplied to site (liaising with EHS team and on site Utility team).
- The on-site management of the relationship with the cleaning chemical provider.
- Provide H&S Manager with all up to date safety data sheet for all cleaning chemicals used on site.
- Auditing of the Hygiene function and activities: Inclusive of Internal Audit compliance in line with Kerry standards.
- Monitoring adherence to cleaning schedules and tasks, updating Cleaning Instruction Cards.
- To create in conjunction with the Quality Team a comprehensive EMP including swabbing schedules for all areas, to be reviewed periodically.
- Close liaison with technical department and laboratories to follow up on all environmental swabbing and investigations if required.
- Implementing any required changes to procedures or Cleaning Cards.
- To ensure that all cleaning methods and frequency, including CIPs are validated and approved in accordance with the Global Standard.
- Provide advice for stored product pest management and facility pest control & develop relationship with Pest Control Provider.
- Ensure SLA established and implemented with Pest Control Provider with service responsibilities clearly defined and audited.
- Build awareness and capability of site teams on hygienic design and hygiene zoning requirements.
- Assess & be involved in proposed site projects for compliance to Hygienic Design Playbook & Standards.
- Train and support as required in Hygiene standards in compliance with Kerry standards.
- Any other requests as required from the Senior Management Team.
Qualifications and skills
- Ideally a 3rd level qualification in a scientific / food technology discipline or equivalent experience.
- Similar experience in a hygiene / quality role within food manufacturing.
- Demonstrable experience of process improvement/change within a food manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of customer quality requirements: e.g. Microbiological standards.
- Can communicate with both internal and external contacts and stakeholders at all levels.
- Logical and structured approach to change management.
- Customer focused - demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills (verbal & written) to act as a credible customer facing representative of Kerry.
- Self-motivated and can work under minimal supervision.
- Numerical ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data.
- Ideally you'll have knowledge of BRC Global Food Standard, H&S Policies and Procedures.
- Knowledge of SAP; Quality Systems; ISO 14001, 50001, CIP systems and customer portals are highly desirable.
- Previous experience of managing people.
