The Kerry Menstrie Site, part of the Kerry Group, is looking to recruit a Quality Control Technician within the Quality Team who will be responsible for testing end products and in process as part of the analytical department shift team. The Menstrie site is one of the world’s leading producers of fermented flavours & ingredients. These are used by major food and drink companies worldwide. The Quality Team ensures that all products consistently satisfy customer needs and meet or exceed all statutory and regulatory requirements for quality and food safety. In addition, the group drives continuous improvement in factory processes and standards. The laboratory team are responsible for the timely and accurate testing of all process, raw materials, intermediates and finished products. The Quality Control Technician responds to the Laboratory Team Leader.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working in a team structure within a rotating pattern (including weekends)
  • Accurate and timely execution of analytical testing to defined methods (raw material, in process and end product)
  • Effective communication of results to production and quality personnel
  • Accurate and timely reporting of results in the appropriate electronic system
  • Organoleptic assessment of end products
  • Laboratory equipment calibration as per schedule
  • Hygiene audits as per schedule

Qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum HND level (in chemistry or related discipline)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in analytical laboratory role with experience in:
    • Chromatography (ideally HPLC & GC)
    • Spectrophotometry (UV VIS)
    • Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy
    • Wet Chemistry methods including colour change titrations
  • Maintenance and calibration of all laboratory equipment to ensure effective operation
  • Proficient in IT systems in particular word/excel/powerpoint
  • Flexibility
  • Experience of working in a food testing environment
