We are recruiting a Process Safety Engineer to join our Menstrie site, a large-scale fermentation and yeast production facility. Reporting to the HSE Lead, you will provide specialist process safety expertise to support the safe and reliable operation of the plant. You will strengthen Process Safety Management, support complex operations, and drive the implementation of process safety standards, tools, training, and assessments across the site.
This is a permanent, full-time, fully onsite position.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise to develop process safety capabilities and support the safe and effective operation of the plant.
- Develop and implement a site strategy to move from Intolerable Risk to Broadly Acceptable Risk across all Process Safety Management (PSM) elements.
- Implement process safety programs, tools, training and assessments aligned with Kerry's PSM framework.
- Support complex operations by identifying and implementing process safety and reliability improvements.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary teams in Management of Change (MoC), incident investigations, risk assessments, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) studies and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
- Lead site HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) activities and drive completion of resulting actions.
- Ensure Hazardous Area Classifications (HAC) are identified, maintained and compliant with Kerry standards.
- Promote understanding and adoption of PSM processes across all levels of the site through communication and training.
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in hazardous areas.
- Ensure all site projects comply with PSM requirements and safety standards.
- Liaise with external regulators, including HSE and SEPA, and identify new technologies to reduce process safety risks.
- Carry out additional duties and projects as requested by the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Team Leader.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Chemical Engineer (CEng) status is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in process safety, chemical engineering or process engineering roles.
- Experience within the chemical, energy, pharmaceutical, food or beverage manufacturing sectors is advantageous.
- Strong project management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence at all levels of the organization.
