The post holder is responsible and accountable for the assessment and delivery of quality person centred nursing care and interventions, primarily in a Treatment Room setting, to our local population. The service is delivered within the General practice team at Kerrsland Surgery.

Treatment room nurses deliver highly skilled, evidence informed nursing care to patients in a general practice setting from across the age continuum, including infants, children and young people, adults and older adults. They work as partners with individuals, families and carers, anticipating health needs, promoting self-care and self-management, enabling individuals to be as healthy and independent as possible and providing support and care.

Treatment Room nursing services include patients which may need, including (but not limited to):

  • Management of minor injuries and dressings
  • Samples INRs and Drug Monitoring
  • Venepuncture
  • Venepuncture for secondary care suture removal
  • Vaccinations – B12, Influenza, Pneumococcal etc
  • Wound Management
  • Chronic disease monitoring and related data collection

General practice nurses provide assessment, treatment, preventative care, screening, long term condition monitoring and patient education mainly in a General practice setting. Participate in public health and wellbeing interventions by identifying and promoting the health and social care needs of the local population in partnership with colleagues, patients, carers and the local community.

Provide services within a robust clinical governance framework across all services in line with local and national strategies and priorities.
