The Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) Automation Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, support and continuous improvement of automated infrastructure and platform deployment solutions across Klipboard environments in the cloud. The post holder will play a key role in driving standardisation, efficiency, scalability and service quality through the use of automation, scripting and repeatable deployment practices. Working collaboratively across technical and operational teams, the role will contribute to the delivery of resilient, secure and well-governed platform services aligned to business and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code and automation solutions to support the delivery of cloud-based platforms.
- Develop and support automated provisioning, configuration and deployment processes using approved technologies, tooling and scripting languages.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting automated deployments, infrastructure configuration and platform consistency.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, support and service teams to improve standardisation, resilience, repeatability and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, automation artefacts and operational standards in line with departmental requirements.
- Monitor the effectiveness of automation solutions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement, optimisation and risk reduction.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues and contribute positively to knowledge sharing across the wider team.
- Ensure that activities are delivered in accordance with agreed processes, governance standards, security requirements and service expectations.
- Participate in training and development activities as required to maintain and enhance knowledge, skills and professional capability.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in infrastructure automation, platform engineering, DevOps, systems engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and configuration management principles, with practical experience of tools such as Terraform, Ansible, ARM, Bicep or equivalent technologies.
- Experience of working with cloud platforms and services, ideally Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using technologies such as PowerShell, Bash, Python or comparable languages.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues across infrastructure and deployment processes.
- Ability to manage changing priorities effectively, work in a structured manner and remain composed under pressure.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
- A proactive, methodical and quality-focused approach, with a commitment to documentation, governance, continuous improvement and service excellence.
