As a rapidly growing business, we are hiring for our exciting venue concept in the heart of Spitalfields Market. As a Bartender, reporting to the Bar Supervisor, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding hospitality by serving a diverse selection of drinks from independent brewers and businesses. The primary responsibilities of this role will include crafting and presenting beverages, engaging with guests, and ensuring a memorable experience through Exceptional Hospitality. This position is well suited to someone with a strong interest in being a part of KERB, ideally with a good understanding of casual food and beverage service. You should have experience working in a fast‑paced setting and a keen eye for spotting upselling opportunities.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing an exceptional service to our guests and answering any queries, complaints, or issues and escalating to the line manager when necessary.
- Taking direction from senior members of the team, while also using initiative to work independently and maintain a calm, professional approach in a busy environment.
- Supporting the bar set‑up for opening – preparing garnishes, glassware, and ensuring the venue is always ready for service.
- Cleaning down and resetting for the following day, including waste removal, washing‑up, stock take, switching off electrical items, and rotating stock as necessary.
- Maintaining an excellent understanding of the food and beverage offering and being able to make suggestions and recommendations to guests based on their preferences.
- Keeping up‑to‑date knowledge of Challenge 25 and legal obligations.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and alcohol service laws, including checking identification to verify age.
What you'll bring to KERB:
- Excellent people skills and confidence talking to guests and traders.
- An eye for spotting upselling opportunities.
- A positive, flexible attitude, the ability to think laterally and solve problems.
- Experience using tablet‑based till systems – we use Lightspeed.
- An awareness of licensing objectives.
- A love of brilliant food and drink.
- Availability to work weekends and evenings.
- One year of bartending experience, although this is not a dealbreaker.
- Great knowledge of beers, wines & spirits – cocktail experience would be a bonus.
What you'll get by joining KERB:
- Generous F&B discount across KERB food and drinks.
- CODE app membership.
- Access to Employee Assistance Program (Hospitality Action).
- Perks at Work discounts.
- 28 days holiday pro‑rata (including bank holidays).
- London Living Wage and Disability‑Confident committed employer.
- Best Companies accredited employer.
