Therefore, we need someone to join our team who is comfortable commuting to both Leyland and Preston in the next few years and who is excited by the opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding of differing technologies, processes and ways of working.

Responsibilities
Electrical Responsibilities (Primary Focus)
- Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
- Perform routine inspections of electrical and mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Test circuit breakers, transformers, and other components to ensure functionality and safety.
- Reactive Maintenance & Repairs: Respond quickly to breakdowns of both electrical and mechanical faults on the production line or facility.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues (motors, drives, control panels, etc.).
- Electrical Installations & Upgrades: Install and wire new machines, lighting, or control panels.
- Upgrade existing systems for energy efficiency or new production requirements.
- Fault Finding & Diagnostics: Use multi‑meters, PLC diagnostic tools, or software to find electrical faults.
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend solutions.
- Compliance & Safety Checks: Ensure all work complies with electrical safety regulations (e.g., BS 7671).
- Perform PAT testing and maintain records.
- Taking ownership for the Production Plant maintenance, with targets to achieve yearly with the Maintenance Manager.
- Extract and carry out daily activities from the Maintenance Planning system (Shire).
- Analyse problems, identify solutions and take appropriate actions to resolve problems.
- Provide ideas to improve efficiency and production capability of the lines.
- To advise the production staff and the engineering supervisor about damages on the building, utilities or potential issues.
- Dust extraction – Daily/weekly maintenance on site machinery to reduce dust omissions.
- Air compressor system – daily/weekly maintenance to ensure machine efficiency.
- Assists and support Maintenance manager for spare parts and highlight critical spare parts to reduce downtime risks.
- Contribute ideas, work methods and solutions to guarantee and improve lines’ efficiency.
- Working effectively under own initiative, being able to work under pressure to deadlines whilst having a keen eye for detail and ensuring the quality of work produced.
- Ability to understand a variety of engineering procedures and functions on the plant automation system.
Qualifications
- Experience and Knowledge of industrial automation and software’s and plant equipment.
- Mechanical and Electrical Skills in machine wiring and installations in factory environment.
- Experience in Plant Maintenance adhering to Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule.
- Compliance with safety standards (e.g., lockout/tagout procedures).
- Pro‑actively identifying areas for continuous improvement within the production work environment/equipment/systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a natural ability to engage a diverse production team.
- Energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for being part of a team that’s driving positive change.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems and tools.
- Root cause analysis (RCA) of faults.
- Logical approach to troubleshooting.
- Communication skills to liaise with production, engineering, and suppliers.
- Teamwork and collaboration.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, or on‑call as required.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
