We are currently recruiting for a Production Operative to join our New World Foods site (part of Kepak Group) in York. The Production Operative is responsible for carrying out production and/or hygiene activities in line with the daily production plan or hygiene schedule. The role ensures tasks are completed safely, accurately and in line with food safety, quality, hygiene and health & safety standards. The Production Operative plays an active part in maintaining product quality, line efficiency and a safe working environment, escalating issues promptly to the Team Leader.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reporting to the Production Manager

SHIFTS: Morning shift - 06:00-14:00, Afternoon shift - 14:00-22:00 (rotating every 2 weeks)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate production machinery safely
  • Follow established procedures

  • Report issues proactively
  • Conduct quality inspections
  • Maintain product standards
  • Support efficient production
  • Minimise downtime effectively
  • Assist with line set-up
  • Complete production checks
  • Maintain accurate records

Requirements

  • Experience in a food manufacturing, hygiene or production environment
  • Awareness of food safety, hygiene and health & safety requirements
  • Ability to follow procedures, instructions and standard ways of working
  • Good attention to detail and record‑keeping accuracy
  • Reliable, flexible and able to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and participate in training
