Kepak Group, one of Europe's leading food producers, is seeking a motivated individual to join our Slaughter Hall team at our Bodmin site as a skilled Slaughterman. This role is situated within the food production industry, which plays a vital role in supplying high-quality food products to consumers across the globe.

As a skilled Slaughterman at our Bodmin site, you will contribute to the company's proud heritage of meat craft, trusted quality, and excellent service. With twelve manufacturing plants located in Ireland and the UK, Kepak is committed to sustainability and animal welfare, ensuring that the production process is both environmentally friendly and ethically responsible.

You will be working in slaughtering performing precision functions involving the preparation of meat. Work may include specialized slaughtering tasks, cutting standard or premium cuts of meat for marketing, and the slaughter and preparation of animals for human consumption.

You will start work at 06:30 in the morning and work until production is finished, Monday to Friday with weekends off. This role offers a full-time contract based on 45 hours per week; any hours worked over the 45 will be paid at time & quarter of your hourly rate. You will have 2 x 30 min breaks per day. The salary for this role is £19.94 per hour.

Responsibilities:
  • Use knives and other equipment to prepare and process meat products according to production specifications.
  • Ensure that meat products are cut and trimmed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Keep work area clean and follow all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Meet production goals and work as a team to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Properly store and handle meat products to prevent waste and spoilage.
  • Perform quality inspections on meat products to ensure they meet established standards.
  • Continuously learn and improve knowledge of knife skills and meat processing techniques.
  • The ability to work at height (Training Given).
Qualifications:
  • Current Slaughter Licence would be preferred.
  • Food Hygiene certificate.
  • Good understanding of animal welfare.
  • Must be able to demonstrate exceptional knife skills.

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the food production industry is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Understanding of and commitment to following health and safety regulations.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects as required.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors.
