We’re looking for an Events & Amended Access Planner to strengthen our Planning team and help us continue delivering exceptional, uncompromising customer service on behalf of our client, TfGM. With Greater Manchester hosting a diverse programme of major sporting events, concerts, conferences and civic occasions throughout the year, Metrolink must adapt quickly to meet changing customer demand while maintaining a safe, reliable and efficient service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate and maintain comprehensive event and amended access plans that support the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Metrolink network, ensuring all contractual requirements are met.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering teams, TfGM and other internal and external stakeholders to plan service changes, engineering access, replacement bus operations and event delivery, ensuring disruption to customers is minimised.
  • Plan and coordinate replacement bus services, considering safety, accessibility, operational requirements and customer needs, while maintaining accurate route layouts, mapping and procurement records.
  • Monitor operational plans and proactively identify risks, issues and resource constraints, escalating concerns where appropriate and ensuring vehicle deployment, operational systems and planning documentation remain accurate and up to date.
  • Produce, maintain and distribute key operational communications and reports, including event plans, Weekly Traffic Notices, Weekly Event Look Ahead updates, meeting actions and contractual feedback reports.
  • Represent the Planning team at meetings with TfGM, contractors and other stakeholders, building strong working relationships that support effective communication, collaborative planning and successful event delivery.
  • Champion a positive safety and customer‑focused culture by promoting Zero Harm principles, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, standards and procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement through audits and best practice.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, respectful and collaborative working environment, demonstrating KAM's values, promoting customer‑centric ways of working and supporting the wellbeing of colleagues and customers.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Experience of developing and delivering customer‑focused operational or service plans within demanding timescales.
  • Understanding of transport operations, including crew resourcing, fleet deployment, capacity and demand planning, and rail replacement bus operations (distinct advantage).
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and positively influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Experience of working within a contractual or concession‑based environment, delivering against defined business and customer service objectives.
  • Strong IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to quickly learn and confidently use specialist planning systems.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work independently, make informed decisions within the scope of the role and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Demonstrable commitment to customer service, excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with clients.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safety, applying Zero Harm principles and effectively managing risk while contributing to a positive, inclusive and high‑performing team culture.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary: £40,822 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
  • Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week.
