Due to internal promotions, we have exciting opportunities for two Tram Maintenance Technicians to join the awesome Rolling Stock Engineering team behind the scenes.
In this role, you ll be a key player in keeping our trams safe, reliable, and ready to serve the people of Greater Manchester.
Working closely with our experienced Tram Maintenance Team Leader and team of Tram Technicians, you ll help deliver our maintenance plan with precision and pride.
You will be problem solving and undertaking diagnostic fault investigations that supports our essential maintenance plan.
You will be attending call outs for breakdowns Road Traffic Collisions (RTC s) across the network to minimise disruption and ensure a smooth running of one of the UK s most iconic transport systems.
We re looking for someone who s not just technically skilled, but also a true champion of safety, wellbeing, and teamwork.
You ll be an advocate for excellence, helping to embed a Just Culture of care and accountability in everything we do.
Key accountabilities will include: Dig Deep into Diagnostics - Investigate failures, carry out root cause analysis and implement smart fixes that stop problems in their tracks.
Champion Fleet Reliability - Play a key role in maintaining our trams to the highest standards, following detailed maintenance instructions to keep everything running smoothly.
Safety First - You ll actively take part in safety briefings and workshops, helping to create a culture where everyone looks out for each other.
Quality Work - You ll carry out tasks to the highest standards, following our maintenance guidelines to ensure the fleet stays reliable and ready.
Share Insights - If something s not quite right, you ll provide timely and constructive feedback to help us improve and respond quickly.
Keep Records Spot On - You ll make sure our asset management records both paper and digital are accurate, up-to-date, and easy to follow.
The role does require you to work across a rostered shift pattern of days, evenings, nights and weekends.
What you ll bring: Educated to NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline / Advanced modern apprenticeship or equivalent experience Knowledge of maintenance activities within a large multi-disciplined team Knowledge of fault-finding techniques and experience of undertaking diagnostic fault investigations and root cause analysis Experience in a large maintenance environment with a focus on safety and completing maintenance activities to plan Adaptability to the varying demands of the maintenance and operational needs Excellent attention to detail and able to follow instructions Work as part of an awesome team to deliver maintenance requirements on time to the capacity model Good knowledge of IT systems including the Microsoft applications What we will offer you: Salary is 55,611 per annum, depending on skills and experience Permanent, working full time 37.5 hrs per week Free Tram Travel for all our colleagues, plus a sponsored pass for an immediate family member.
