The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Signalling Response Manager to lead the delivery of safe, reliable, and high‑performing signalling services across the DLR network. Reporting to the General Manager – Signalling & Telecoms, you’ll have overall responsibility for signalling maintenance, first line response, asset integrity, and regulatory compliance across mainline and depot environments. This is a senior leadership role with accountability for people, performance, and budget, and includes deputising for the General Manager and contributing to strategic planning and franchise delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead signalling maintenance, first line response, and audit activities across the network
  • Ensure effective 24/7 response to incidents and operational emergencies
  • Lead, develop, and motivate large multidisciplinary teams, including succession and competence planning
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with the Safety Case, standards, and legislation
  • Manage significant delegated budgets and deliver agreed financial targets
  • Contribute to departmental strategy and wider franchise objectives
  • Oversee design reviews, configuration control, and technical reporting
  • Lead development and governance of signalling competence and licensing systems

What You’ll Need

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Extensive experience as a Signalling Engineer with strong technical knowledge of railway signalling systems
  • Proven senior leadership and people management experience in a safety‑critical environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently at both senior management and operational levels
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets
