At Keolis Amey Docklands (KAD), we operate and maintain the Docklands Light Railway, keeping London moving safely, reliably and efficiently.

As we continue to deliver a world-class railway, our Legal and Commercial team plays a vital role in ensuring the business remains legally compliant, commercially robust and meets its franchise obligations.

We are looking for a

Legal Manager to join our Commercial & Strategy team.

The Role

Reporting to the

Head of Legal and Commercial , you'll provide legal and commercial support across the organisation, working on a broad range of commercial contracts, franchise compliance, supplier negotiations, data protection matters, claims management and legal risk.

This is a varied in-house legal role where you'll work closely with colleagues across Engineering, Service Delivery, Finance, People, HSQE and Executive Management, while also engaging with Transport for London, external legal advisers, insurers and suppliers.

You'll play an important role in helping KAD deliver its contractual obligations, minimise legal risk and provide commercially focused legal advice that supports the successful operation of one of London's busiest transport networks.

What You'll Do

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and supplier agreements.
  • Support delivery of the DLR Franchise Agreement and manage contractual obligations.
  • Provide day-to-day legal and commercial advice across the business.
  • Manage public liability claims alongside insurers and external solicitors.
  • Support GDPR compliance, Subject Access Requests and Data Protection activities.
  • Work with Tf L and DLRL on franchise variations and contractual matters.
  • Monitor legal compliance programmes and provide guidance to managers.
  • Liaise with external legal advisers where specialist advice is required.
  • Deputise for the Head of Legal and Commercial when required.
  • What You'll Need

Essential

  • Experience within an in-house legal team or commercial law firm.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Knowledge of contract law, dispute resolution and data protection legislation.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Educated to degree level with relevant legal qualifications or equivalent legal experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

Desirable

  • Experience within the rail, transport or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience with MS Power BI.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health & safety or railway regulation.
