Overview

Litigated Credit Hire Specialist at Keoghs – Birmingham, United Kingdom. You will be part of a team dedicated to championing clients\’ interests in high-stakes credit hire cases. This role involves investigating Litigated Complex Credit Hire claims from a tactical and strategic perspective, with claims up to £25,000 in value.

Description

As a Litigated Credit Hire Specialist at Keoghs you’ll be at the heart of a team dedicated to championing clients’ interests in high-stakes credit hire cases. The File Handler investigates complex and technical claims submitted from specific opponents, typically up to £25,000 in value. The role involves handling litigation-ready files under supervision, with a focus on tactical and strategic investigation.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in investigating credit hire claims and pursuing repudiation where appropriate.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deal with a caseload of DA credit hire and injury files under the supervision of a Team Leader
  • Receive instructions at the point of litigation; thorough knowledge of handling RTA claims through to conclusion via a court hearing
  • Review and analyse files throughout the life of the case in accordance with client guidelines
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, keeping the client at the heart of every decision
  • Formulate an initial strategy for approval by the Team Leader
  • Legal research
  • Undertake telephone negotiations with third-party solicitors
  • Liaise with the insured and insurers where necessary
  • Ensure actions are carried out as per the task list within the Case Management System
  • Accurately complete management information processes (MI)
  • Process bills
  • Ensure all files comply with ISO 9001 guidelines and SRA Standards & Regulations
  • Adhere to Keoghs values; ability to work in a target-driven environment

The role also involves understanding the court process, including drafting defences, completing direction questionnaires, handling disclosure and exchange of evidence, completing pre-trial checklists, instructing Counsel, and drafting CPR Part 18 and Part 35 questions, as well as counter schedules.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience of litigation and handling Credit Hire files with evidence of managing own caseload
  • Education: at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent; a degree/LPC is preferable
  • Ability to use own initiative, plan and prioritise workloads
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Good telephone negotiation skills
  • Ability to follow work processes and keep to strategy
  • Ability to recognise when sensitivity and tact are required
  • Ability to make decisions and remain calm under pressure
  • Good IT skills including Word, Outlook, and experience of a Case Management System
  • Adhere to Keoghs values

Desirable:

  • Experience of handling PI claims
