Overview
Are you skilled in credit hire and passionate about delivering outstanding service? We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Credit Hire File Handler to join our team in Leeds.
Key Accountabilities
- Education – at least 3 GCSEs or equivalent are essential; a degree is preferable.
- Use own initiative and plan and prioritise workloads.
- Exhibit excellent listening, verbal communication and telephone negotiation skills.
- Follow work processes and keep to strategy.
- Recognise when sensitivity and tact are required.
- Make decisions and remain calm under pressure.
- Demonstrate good IT skills including Word, Outlook, and experience of a Case Management System (preferred).
- Experience of credit hire is essential; expected to have worked in a credit hire environment for at least 12 months.
Technical Knowledge to be Developed
- Understanding of Pre Proceedings Credit Hire.
- The life cycle of a file.
- Knowledge of common law and litigation principles.
- Understanding of costs and protective offers.
- How to prepare a case for litigation.

Working Hours
35 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm with a 1‑hour unpaid lunch break. This is a hybrid role: 1 day in the office and 4 days working from home.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Experience handling Credit Hire files with evidence of managing own case load.
- Education – at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent; a degree or LPC is preferable.
- Use own initiative and plan and prioritise workloads.
- Excellent listening, verbal communication and telephone negotiation skills.
- Ability to follow work processes and keep to strategy.
- Recognise when sensitivity and tact are required.
- Make decisions and remain calm under pressure.
- Good IT skills including Word, Outlook, and experience of a Case Management System (preferred).
