Description

As a Litigated Credit Hire Specialist at Keoghs, you will be part of a team dedicated to representing clients in high-stakes credit hire cases.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to investigate complex credit hire claims from a strategic perspective. The File Handler is responsible for conducting detailed investigations on claims submitted by specific opponents, typically up to £25,000 in value.

This position offers a chance to join a talented team and gain experience in managing credit hire claims, aiming to successfully challenge the claims where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of DA credit hire and injury files under supervision
  • Handle claims from litigation instructions through to court conclusion, including RTA claims
  • Review and analyze files throughout case progression
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Formulate and seek approval for initial case strategies
  • Conduct legal research
  • Negotiate with third-party solicitors via telephone
  • Coordinate with insured parties and insurers as needed
  • Ensure all actions are completed per case management system tasks
  • Accurately process management information and bills
  • Maintain files within ISO 9001 standards
  • Comply with SRA Standards & Regulations
  • Follow Keoghs\’ core values and work in a target-driven environment

Additionally, the role involves understanding court procedures, including:

  • Drafting defenses
  • Completing direction questionnaires
  • Managing disclosure and evidence exchange
  • Preparing pre-trial checklists
  • Instructing Counsel
  • Drafting CPR Part 18 and Part 35 questions
  • Drafting counter schedules

Working Hours: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with 1-hour lunch break.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Litigation experience handling credit hire files and managing own caseload
  • At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent; degree or LPC preferred
  • Initiative, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to follow processes, recognize sensitivities, and make decisions under pressure
  • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and case management systems

Desirable:

  • Experience handling PI claims
