Costs Paralegal – Keoghs (Bolton)
Salary: £22,222 / year
Department: Legal
Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour lunch.
Role Overview
Assesses and settles costs claims in clinical negligence cases, handling all procedural aspects up to agreement or assessment, including file management and end‑of‑life payables.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting statutory documents: Chronology, Costs Strategy Document, Points of Dispute, Interlocutory applications (basic), Part 18 requests, Consent orders.
- Conduct evidential reviews: detailed file review, chronology preparation, assess claims & set strategy/reserves, assess replies, review disclosure, supervise referrals, evaluate PA outcome.
- Reporting: draft advice on NDA files to client, prepare outcome reports on concluded cases, provide non‑strategic updates to client on assisting cases.
- Settlement negotiations: evaluate Part 36 offers/other proposals, negotiate with third parties, complete MI, payment requests and outcome reports, ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.

- English & Maths GCSE grade A to C / Level 5 or equivalent.
- IT literate (Microsoft Office).
