Keoghs is seeking a qualified professional to work within the Complex Injury Claims Team dealing with large loss claims in Southampton, England, United Kingdom.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to assist the lead lawyer on complex, high-value multi-track and catastrophic injury claims, including EL/PL and RTA claims. The ideal candidate will have experience of indemnity, liability, and excellent attention to detail. Experience of calculating the value of cases using the Ogden tables is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Lead Lawyer to manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including high-value multi-track and catastrophic injury claims.
- Communicate with sophisticated insurer clients, dealing with their queries and updating them as the matter progresses.
- Conduct forensic analysis of voluminous quantum evidence, prepare chronologies, and identify anomalies.
- Use existing knowledge of complex injury symptomology to identify relevant issues within medical records and instruct medical experts.
- Perform critical analysis of sources of liability evidence and identify any gaps.
- Draft concise technical advice on all aspects of claim handling.
- Proactively identify next steps required on a matter and discuss those aspects with the Lead Lawyer.
- Interview witnesses and draft statements.
- Liaise with parties involved in claims, including the insured, insurer, witnesses, etc.
- Draft pleadings and applications.
- Instruct counsel and attend conferences, JSMs, mediations, and court hearings.
- Deliver agreed performance targets and quality standards.
- Delegate assigned tasks and contribute to the development of Legal Assistants and/or Paralegals.
- Maintain case management systems with up-to-date management information for clients.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Prior experience working in the area of Complex/Large Loss/CAT arena.
- Experience of indemnity, liability, and excellent attention to detail.
- Experience of calculating the value of a claim using the Ogden tables.
- Qualified solicitor, CILEX, or proven relevant legal experience.
- Experience of cases involving complex medical issues.
