Description

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within the Complex Injury Claims Team dealing with large loss claims. You will assist the lead lawyer on complex, high value multi-track and catastrophic injury claims, including EL/PL and RTA claims. Essential skills include indemnity, liability, and excellent attention to detail. Experience in calculating case values using the Ogden tables is preferred. Your work will be supervised with feedback provided. You will also engage with senior claims handlers in long-standing insurance clients and may assist your Lead Lawyer in activities to develop Keoghs\’ profile.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including high-value multi-track and catastrophic injury claims involving brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and fatal claims.
  • Communicate with insurer clients, handle queries, and provide updates.
  • Analyze quantum evidence, prepare chronologies, and identify anomalies across various sources.
  • Use medical knowledge to identify issues in medical records and instruct medical experts.
  • Draft technical advice on indemnity, liability, quantum, and causation issues.
  • Identify next steps, discuss with the Lead Lawyer, and take appropriate action.
  • Interview witnesses, draft statements, and liaise with involved parties.
  • Draft pleadings and applications, instruct counsel, and attend conferences, mediations, and court proceedings.
  • Achieve performance targets and maintain case management systems.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

  • Experience in Complex / Large Loss / CAT claims.
  • Knowledge of indemnity, liability, and quantum.
  • Ability to calculate claim values using Ogden tables preferred.
  • Qualified solicitor, CILEX, or relevant legal experience.
  • Experience with complex medical issues is advantageous.
