Catastrophic Injury Lawyer
Keoghs is a leading law firm with a reputation for excellence in complex litigation. We represent some of the largest insurance providers, offering robust defence strategies in cases involving catastrophic personal injury.
Our Newcastle office is regularly recognised by the Legal 500 as offering a Band 1 level of service and technical expertise. The position is full‑time (permanent) with hybrid working options and a minimum of 28 hours per week. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Ref: DAV-2462.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management – Support lead lawyers with a high‑value, complex injury Defendant RTA caseload, primarily claims valued from £3 million to over £20 million.
- Accountability – Communicate and develop relationships with clients and claimant legal teams, ensuring proactive case management and exceptional service levels.
- Research & Analysis – Conduct thorough legal research and analyse medical records, liability documents, Part 35 reports and witness statements to prepare detailed technical advice on indemnity, liability and quantum issues.
- Court Representation – Represent clients in hearings, joint settlement meetings, mediations, arbitrations and trials.
- Development – Mentor junior team members, delegate appropriately and guide technical ability and achievement of objectives.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified solicitor or CILEX (equivalent to 3–4 years PQE).
- Significant experience handling or assisting large loss or catastrophic injury files; capable of handling cases with a loss of less than £1 million under supervision or assisting on catastrophic injury cases exceeding £1 million.
- Defendant experience preferred; claimant experience at a senior level acceptable.
- Strong understanding of case law, litigation practice, Court Practice Rules and high‑value claim procedures.
- Excellent organisational, IT and interpersonal skills with clear oral and written communication to colleagues, clients and third parties.
