We are seeking an experienced litigated File Handler to join our counter‑fraud team.

The role involves managing a caseload of litigated RTA suspect fraud files, working with insurance clients and senior legal staff.

You will analyse evidence, develop case strategy, liaise with leads, and achieve commercial and client KPIs while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Caseload

The caseload includes the following types of claim

  • Bogus Passenger
  • Staged/Contrived
  • Fraudulent Exaggeration
  • Induced accidents
  • Low Speed Impact
  • Late Notification Claims
  • Credit Hire Fraud
  • MIB
  • Linked & Organised Crime

Key Responsibilities

  • Run fraud cases from litigation to resolution.
  • Conduct detailed evidence review and analysis.
  • Set and agree case strategy with clients, following KYO and generic strategies.
  • Adhere to work‑type process stages.
  • Identify strategic litigation opportunities and complex cases.
  • Identify client trends and raise profile with clients.
  • Handle files non‑delegated, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of client and internal MI.
  • Reporting to insurer clients throughout claim life.
  • Liaise with stakeholders for investigations.
  • Meet procedural and investigative deadlines.
  • Achieve best litigation results, protect client position, and conduct advocacy when cost‑effective.
  • Delegate tasks to assistants as required.
  • Maintain accurate case management system records.
  • Adhere to file management policies and SRA Standards & Regulations.
  • Maintain commercial awareness to meet profitability targets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing.
  • Working Hours

35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9 am–5 pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location is Bolton; attendance required at least one day per week.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience in civil litigation claims handling or as a legal file handler (ILEX, LPC, etc.).
  • Qualified solicitor / CILEX with practice rights desirable.
  • Experience with linked and organised fraud is a plus.
  • Experience handling RTA pre‑litigated and/or litigated caseloads.
  • Understanding of insurance litigation practice and indemnity principles.
  • Knowledge of the CPR and litigation process.
  • Advocacy skills.
  • Client care skills and adherence to client guidelines.
  • High analytical ability.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication.
  • Prioritisation, deadline management and ability to work under pressure.
  • Problem‑anticipation and solution identification.
  • Experience with time recording and billing systems.
  • Excellent IT skills.
