Description
The role is within our Volume Motor Litigation Unit, handling motor litigation across MOJ, OICP, Portal Limitation, Small Claims and Fast Track claims. You will work with the Portal Limitation team, managing a caseload of MOJ and OICP cases that have reached limitation on behalf of key insurer clients. Full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Draft and file all required Court documents, such as notice of acting, applications, and consent orders.
- Consider and manage applications for extension of stays.
- Formulate initial and ongoing strategy, efficiently and effectively, with an eye to fee structure.
- Liaise with insured parties, insurers, brokers, counsel and other stakeholders.
- Ensure actions are carried out as per action lists in the Case Management System.
- Brief and liaise with counsel as required.
- Adhere to all Court deadlines.
- Identify cases with a value over £25k and large loss triggers.
- Pro‑actively control case life cycles and focus on phone contact.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Good knowledge and understanding of the MOJ Civil Procedure Rules and associated time scales.
- Experience valuing general and special damages using tools such as JC Guidelines and case law.
- Prior dealing in quantum negotiations.
- Experience drafting legal documents and setting deadlines.
- Skills in managing claimants, policyholders, clients and the Court.
- Ability to manage a caseload and prioritise workloads.
- Excellent listening and verbal communication, calm under pressure, and ability to take constructive feedback.
- Initiative to innovate and adapt to changing situations.
