Description
This role is new to the market and offers an opportunity for a qualified lawyer to work with a leading Partner and their team on high-value motor, EL & PL work, which vary in injuries sustained and values.
As our next Assistant Lawyer, you will work alongside the Partner and the team to help progress cases efficiently.
The role would suit someone with previous experience in defendant large loss/multi-track personal injury work.
Key Responsibilities
- TEAMWORK: Manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including high-value multi-track and catastrophic injury cases involving brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and fatal claims.
- COMMUNICATION: Interact with insurer clients, address their queries, and update them as cases progress.
- ANALYSIS: Conduct forensic analysis of extensive quantum evidence.
- STRATEGY: Draft concise technical advice on claim handling, including reserves, indemnity, liability, quantum, causation, and claims resolution strategies.
- PROACTIVITY: Identify next steps, discuss with the Lead Lawyer, and take appropriate action.
- TECHNICAL SKILLS: Interview witnesses, draft statements, liaise with involved parties, draft pleadings and applications, instruct counsel, and attend conferences, mediations, and court proceedings.
- TARGETS: Achieve performance targets, including chargeable hours and quality standards.
- DELEGATION: Assign tasks to Paralegals and support their development.
- CASE MANAGEMENT: Maintain case management systems with up-to-date information for clients.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Qualified solicitor, CILEX, or proven legal experience in a similar role, dealing with large loss, multi-track personal injury cases.
- Experience with indemnity, liability, and quantum.
- Background as Defendant or Claimant is acceptable.
- Good understanding of case law, litigation practice, and Court Practice Rules.
- Commitment to personal and team development.
- Ability to deliver outstanding client service.
