The Complex Disease Lawyer will handle own caseload of mixed diseases and complex cases within our Legacy department to manage and progress claims in accordance with appropriate strategies to secure desired outcomes at appropriate levels of profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall conduct of allocated matters fixing strategy and liaising directly with clients.
  • Responsibility for Assistants and their development.
  • Ensure adherence with court timetables by taking relevant actions/delegation of tasks as appropriate.
  • Ensuring experts are instructed in sufficient time by taking relevant actions/delegation of tasks as appropriate.
  • Attending conferences with Counsel and clients.
  • Dealing with routine correspondence.
  • Compliance with MI.
  • To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations.
  • Adhere to the Keoghs Values.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Technically proficient in dealing with a mixed disease caseload including long tail disease and short tail disease.
  • Experience of dealing with the Claims Portal as well as Fast, Intermediate and Multi Track litigation including cases in the High Court.
  • Effective negotiator.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Good listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organise, delegate and prioritise.
  • Good level of IT skills.
