Counter Fraud Technical Director in Bolton

To take overall responsibility for delivery of technical competence for Counter Fraud Services.

Including, delivery of a training programme, setting and disseminating technical policy, strategies and supporting our heads of fraud services lines to grow and deliver an enhanced complex fraud offering, widen our technical capability across multiple fraud disciples and strengthen our position in the market.

Key Responsibilities

The Technical Director is responsible for

• Delivery and improvement of technical competence and outcomes.
• Working with the heads of service lines to deliver and implement new strategies ensuring that supporting technical documents are fit for purpose.
• Setting and disseminating technical guidance and policy.
• Ensuring there is an effective training programme.
• Managing and driving the complex fraud identification process to enhance the complex fraud offering.
• Mentoring, developing and supporting Lead Lawyers and Technical Supervisors where required in order to ensure there is a strong technical culture across Counter-Fraud.
• Supporting the heads of service lines, across multiple fraud disciplines, to identify and deliver growth.

Key Deliverables

• Technical Excellence
• Improve technical fraud competence, across multiple fraud disciplines to include but not limited to motor and casualty fraud.
• Delivery of improved KPI performance and outcomes.
• Effectively manage risk and protect the business through delivery of a reduction in client complaints and improved audit results.
• Devise and implement a dynamic, fit for purpose and scalable technical onboarding program.
• Deliver best practice for continuous technical development and a talent pipeline, including skills gap analysis.
• Devise and implement a fit for purpose training plan to fulfill the skills gaps.
• Manage and drive the complex fraud identification process and work in partnership with the Head of Complex Fraud to support the enhancement of our complex offering.
• Leadership and People development
• Embed the competency Development Framework and Career Pathway for Counter Fraud.
• Develop and maintain a succession plan supported by effective PDPs for all roles in your remit.
• Engage and motivate people to deliver excellent results and strive for continuous improvement and personal development.
• Deliver effective communication in the teams at all levels, including team meetings, monthly one to ones and annual performance reviews.
• Create an environment with positive team and individual engagement. Improve and deliver engagement results.
• Client Management and Growth

Work collaboratively with the heads of service lines to

• Identify new and emerging fraud risks and conversion into new product lines capable of a profitable revenue.
• Deliver market leading outcomes to retain positions on panel.
• Produce market leading fraud insight and thought leadership and publications.
• Technology
• Where required, work with the product owners to pilot, test, and where appropriate implement the technology products which support and enhance our technical capability.
• Complex Case Handling
• Handle a small caseload of complex fraud cases and achieve an agreed chargeable hour target.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Highly experienced Counter-Fraud lawyer with a proven track record in handling high profile/complex litigation across multiple disciplines, including motor and casualty fraud.
• Ability to lead and influence others across multiple teams.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a senior leadership team.
• Ability to interpret data to identify trends, draw conclusions and prepare reports.
• Ability to anticipate problems and identify and propose solutions.
• Ability to draft and deliver training, technical policies and guidance.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining client care.
