KEO is a creative enterprise, where innovation is a way of life. We are uniquely resourced with end-to-end services to take clients from inspiration through conceptualization to realization of planning, design or project delivery in the built and natural environments. For over 60 years we’ve led with vision, contributing to many of the world’s most ambitious projects, iconic places, remarkable experiences and prosperous communities.

Our newest opportunity is for a Waste Analyst to join our award-winning Sustainability and Environment Division and our specialist waste composition team based in London, UK. Waste composition involves analysing the types of materials present in waste streams (such as plastics, food waste, metals, and paper) to support organisations and governments in improving recycling performance, infrastructure planning, and environmental policy.

Working alongside experienced consultants and engineers, this role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate to gain hands-on experience in project delivery, data analysis, and research within the waste and environmental sector while contributing to projects that deliver real environmental impact.

We envisage success in this role to include:

  • Supporting the setup and delivery of waste composition and resource management projects.
  • Assisting with project proposals, sampling methodologies, and data collection planning.
  • Supporting fieldwork logistics including waste sampling, sorting activities, and data recording.
  • Conducting data entry and analysis to identify waste material composition, recycling potential, and policy implications.
  • Supporting the development of analytical frameworks and reporting methodologies for waste datasets.
  • Researching market trends, emerging technologies, and UK waste legislation and policy drivers.
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
  • Supporting the wider team in delivering strategic waste management and resource efficiency projects.
  • Contributing to innovative approaches for analysing and presenting waste data.
  • Supporting project delivery across multiple locations, including travel within the UK and occasionally internationally as required.

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 1–2 years of relevant work experience partnered with a Bachelor’s degree (BSc Honours or equivalent) in Resource Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline. Relevant internships or work placements within resource/waste management or environmental consulting would be considered advantageous.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical capability with an interest in waste data and environmental systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and modelling.
  • Knowledge of Python for data analysis, including data cleaning and visualisation.
  • Understanding of AI tools and their potential application in data analysis.
  • Experience or exposure to research, data collection, and technical reporting.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, particularly when supporting fieldwork activities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within project teams.
  • Adaptability and practical problem-solving skills when working in field environments.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK, Europe, and occasionally internationally as project requirements dictate.
  • Fluency in English.

KEO’s performance is founded upon integrity, results, innovation, safety and our people. We embrace diversity and recognise its contribution to client success wherever we work.
