We have a vacancy with a south east London borough for an experienced and motivated Trading Standards professional with a sound understanding of legal process who has proven knowledge of Trading Standards legislation. The main purpose of the contract is to do some project work around knives etc. for the Responsible Retailer scheme. It will involve devising and putting together a pack as well as enforcing legislation.
It is a small, busy and driven team whose priorities include protecting and safeguarding vulnerable persons, investigating under-age sales, dealing robustly and dynamically with incidents of rogue traders, and undertaking essential product safety work, as well as running a wide range of other projects to suit local, regional and national priorities. We work closely with partner agencies with whom we enjoy positive working relationships and have an excellent reputation for undertaking ground-breaking initiatives and achieving outstanding results.
Strong communication skills with an ability to work under pressure, both as part of a team and independently are a must. Preferably you will hold a Trading Standards qualification but consideration will be given to applicants who can demonstrate considerable knowledge and experience in this area as well.
