Role Summary
This role provides maternity cover for the Media Lead position, with a clear focus on agency leadership, governance, financial control, and media investment decision‑making. The successful candidate will act as the senior in‑house media authority, responsible for ensuring that agency partners deliver against strategic, financial, and operational expectations. The role is less focused on hands‑on retail or e‑commerce media execution, and instead prioritises agency transition leadership, robust media planning, billing and finance governance, and evaluation of media and content quality. This role will work closely with marketing, finance, procurement, and agency partners to ensure media activity is strategically sound, operationally efficient, and financially accountable.
Agency Leadership & Governance
- Lead and manage relationships with media agencies across planning, buying, and activation.
- Act as the senior day‑to‑day client lead for agencies, ensuring clarity of scope, accountability, and performance.
- Lead and support any agency transition or restructuring activity, including onboarding, ways of working, governance frameworks, and continuity of delivery.
- Own agency ways of working, ensuring consistency, transparency, and best‑practice standards across teams.
- Conduct agency performance reviews and contribute to evaluation of operating models, resourcing, and value delivery.
Media Planning & Strategic Evaluation
- Provide senior media planning oversight across channels, ensuring plans align to brand strategy, business objectives, and audience needs.
- Evaluate media strategy quality, channel roles, phasing, reach and frequency logic, and investment balance.
- Assess content quality and media‑context fit, ensuring creative and media work together effectively.
- Act as a strategic advisor to brand and marketing teams on media choices and trade‑offs.
Financial, Billing & Investment Oversight
- Own oversight of media billing processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reconciliation.
- Partner closely with finance and procurement teams on budgets, forecasting, accruals, and spend tracking.
- Ensure agencies operate within agreed financial processes and governance frameworks.
- Lead evaluation of media investment decisions, including rationale for spend, expected return, and effectiveness.
- Support development of clear media investment criteria: why we invest, where we invest, and what success looks like.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with marketing, finance, procurement, and external partners to ensure joined‑up delivery.
- Act as the key connector between agencies and internal stakeholders, resolving issues quickly and constructively.
- Support integrated briefing processes and ensure media considerations are embedded early in planning.
Leadership & Capability
- Provide leadership and direction to internal media team members (where applicable), ensuring clarity of priorities and delivery focus.
- Bring structure, pace, and rigour to media operations during the maternity cover period.
- Champion strong process, documentation, and decision‑making discipline.
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive experience in media roles, either agency‑side or in‑house, with strong exposure to media planning, governance, and agency leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supporting agency transitions, onboarding, or changes in operating model.
- Strong understanding of media billing, finance processes, and budget management.
- Proven ability to evaluate media strategy, investment decisions, and performance beyond surface‑level metrics.
- Experience working closely with senior stakeholders.
Skills & Attributes
- Highly operational, organised, and delivery‑focused.
- Commercially minded, with confidence interrogating spend, value, and return.
- Strong communicator, able to challenge constructively and lead senior agency conversations.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to assess media and content quality holistically.
- Comfortable operating in complex, matrixed organisations.
- Calm, credible, and decisive during periods of change.
What’s In It For You
- Competitive Benefit Package.
- Paid Company Holidays, Paid Vacation, Volunteer Time & More!
- Learning & Development Opportunities.
