Detailed Description

The ideal candidate will have expertise in and passion for Renewable Energy and a background in developing new projects/seeking new opportunities and/or technical skills in the design of renewable energy projects (including but not limited to PV solar farms and PV rooftop arrays). They would join the existing OCE board of volunteers who (with the assistance of asset managers) currently operate a 5MWp PV solar farm and ~150kWp PV rooftop in the Sittingbourne area. Each year OCE awards grants to local community organisations. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for an informal discussion.

Time Commitment

  • Email correspondence: daily basis (most issues do not require an immediate response).
  • Fortnightly virtual meetings with asset managers (~1 hour every 2 weeks on Friday mornings).
  • Quarterly Board Meetings in Faversham or Sittingbourne (3‑4 hours every 3 months on a Thursday morning).
  • Site visits to PV solar farm: 2‑3 times a year, 2 hours every 4‑6 months on a Thursday afternoon.
  • AGM: virtual on an annual basis in September, lasting 1‑2 hours and featuring presentations from grant recipients.
  • Additional time may be needed for grant awards, social media (inc. website and newsletters), seeking new opportunities (shared between directors).

Role Address

Orchard Community Energy operates in the Swale and Medway areas. Board meetings are held quarterly in either Faversham or Sittingbourne. Virtual meetings are held fortnightly for 1 hour to discuss operational matters. Our current board includes people living throughout Kent (and further afield).
