Mentors and Befrienders needed to provide face-to-face support to disadvantaged young people.

To provide consistent, positive support to young people aged 8–25, helping them to build confidence, develop life skills, and engage in positive activities. As a Mentor/Befriender, you will be a trusted role model β€” listening without judgment, encouraging personal growth, and helping young people feel valued and connected.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build a supportive, respectful, and trusting relationship with your matched young person.
  • Offer a listening ear and friendly conversation, providing encouragement and motivation.

Young people tell us they want to receive support from "non-professionals", people who are able to listen, understand, and be there for them because they want to help, not because they are paid to help.

Time Commitment:

Befriending support to a young person in care is from one visit per month, for 2-3 hours. Mentoring support for a young person struggling with life issues is from 1-2 hours per week.
