Somerset Community College's Workforce Solutions Department invites applications for adjunct positions. These are temporary, part-time positions used to fill teaching and training vacancies for both credit and non-credit courses as needed. When a position is available, qualified applicants may be contacted for an interview and asked to submit further documentation.
SCC's Workforce Solutions Department offers customized short-term business and industry training, technical skill upgrades, training assistance to industry, Lineman, and CDL training.
Job Duties:- Provide effective instruction to students online and/or in person by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to measure student performance.
- Ensure teaching and working environment (classroom, lab, studio) by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards.
We are interested in a variety of subject matter experts. While formal degrees are preferred, we desire applicants who have had significant job experience in the area in which they would like to teach. Seeking subject matter experts in the following areas: Microsoft applications, Leadership, Management, Customer Service, Advanced Manufacturing (all areas), CDL, Lineman, Banking and Finance.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's or Associate's degree or equivalent in the teaching discipline and demonstrated competencies in discipline or program listed. Certification may be required - (Technical Training, Electrical Training, Quality Assurance, OSHA, Computer Training, Professional Development for Supervisors & Teams, Foreign Language Courses, CDL Training, Lineman Training and Pre-Licensing, Certification & Continuing Education Programs in Insurance, Master and Journeyman HVAC License, Electrical Contractor, Master Electrician and Electrician, Plumbing License β Master & Journeyman Plumbing Code Class and Welding Certification, and Additive Manufacturing), Dependent upon area of specialty, certification may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience using Blackboard (or a similar learning management system as a delivery method for classes) is a plus but not required.
Additional Skills Requested:Must be able to work as part of a team and must value collaboration; possess good teaching and organisation skills; able to communicate effectively both in verbal and written expression; and possess an educational philosophy that is compatible with the mission of the community college. Official transcripts will be required upon hire.
