Job Summary:

Responsible for managing the Technical Programs. Provides academic leadership and operational management for credit and non-credit programs in CTE. Accountable for developing and administering instructional programs; faculty hiring and evaluation; budget development and oversight; maintaining programmatic accreditations; and strengthening the delivery of instruction and the quality of the learning environment to ensure student success. This position also plays a lead role in key grants and resource development for the college, including Perkins.

Job Duties:

  • Evaluates full-time and part-time faculty to ensure continuity of quality classroom instruction. Recommends enhancement, retention or non-retention.
  • Coordinates and directs the evaluation, review, and implementation of innovative curriculum additions and revisions. Reviews course outlines and syllabi and offers feedback and assistance.
  • Represents the college to community organizations and agencies and participates in college wide committees.
  • Provide strategic leadership to expand and enhance community partnerships for technical and clinical programs, leveraging interdisciplinary expertise throughout the college, to allow the college to have greater community impact.
  • Performs other duties as required. This position serves all six Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College campuses—Cumberland, Harlan, Knox, Middlesboro, Pineville, and Whitesburg. The individual selected for this role will be on the Cumberland Campus; however, travel to other campuses is required. The designated home campus may be reassessed and adjusted in the future as institutional needs evolve.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of experience in leadership in higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree with 2-4 years of experience in leadership in higher education setting.

Additional Skills Requested:

  • Training, participation and/or knowledge of higher education accreditation procedures, articulation process, assessment and program review.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve student complaints and recommend appropriate procedures for resolution.

Preferred/ desirable qualifications:

  • Experience working in a community college and instructional experience are highly preferred.
