We are currently recruiting an Estimator for one of the largest civil engineering and infrastructure specialists in the UK. The business has 40 years trading history working nationally across sectors such as water, transport, energy and the built environment.
This opportunity is based out of the business’ Midlands region with their offices located in the Walsall area and will involve projects such as civils infrastructure, water infrastructure, rail and tunnelling. As a result, past experience in one or all of these areas would be desirable.
DUTIES:
- Undertake estimates in accordance with Company procedures
- Identify opportunity and risk during the tender process
- Liaise with the business unit to agree methodology and principles
- Liaise with tender Bid Manager and Planner
- Maintain a register of key assumptions within estimate
- Maintain tender estimate file
- Obtain feedback from site teams on estimating adequacy and current costs
Presentation of estimates at adjudication:
- Prepare estimating ‘adjudication pack’
- Present basis of estimate and key assumptions
- Maintain notes of adjudication meetings
- Close out actions and monitor customer negotiations, seeking amended authority as required
Handover to site teams at contract award:
- Prepare estimating ‘handover packs’
- Present basis of estimate and key assumptions
- Maintain notes of handover meeting
- Provide ongoing support to site teams relating to estimate and key assumptions
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- An understanding of construction techniques and resource needs
- Familiarisation with tender build-ups - possibly through delivery at site level
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office software
- Numerate and familiar with estimating software
- A confident demeanour and the ability to liaise with all levels of personnel and customers

- Up to 85,000 basic salary (dependent on experience)
