Freelance Site Engineer – External Works Location: Leeds Start Date: 24th August 2026 Duration: Until February 2027 I’m currently recruiting for a Freelance Site Engineer to work on a large apartment development in Leeds, with responsibility for the external works package. The role will suit an experienced Site Engineer who is confident with setting out and QA across external works, and who can work independently on site. The Role You’ll be responsible for the setting out and quality assurance of the external works package, including: • Setting out drainage and external works • Shallow drainage • Kerb lines and levels • Paving and walkways • Lighting and associated works • Street furniture • General external works • Checking works against drawings and specifications • QA, ITPs and quality records • Working closely with the site management and subcontractor teams Requirements • Previous experience as a Site Engineer on construction/civils projects • Strong experience with external works • Confident setting out using relevant surveying equipment • Good understanding of drawings, levels and specifications • Experience with QA and maintaining quality records • CSCS • Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience • Previous experience on residential/apartment or similar developments would be advantageous This is a long-term freelance opportunity running through to February 2027, working on a major development in Leeds
