The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the company's plant and equipment hire requirements, ensuring equipment is available when required, costs are controlled, and all hire records are accurately maintained.

The Role:

  • Managing the day-to-day hire of plant, tools and equipment
  • Arranging deliveries and collections across multiple construction sites
  • Liaising with site teams, suppliers and plant hire companies
  • Monitoring off-hire dates and ensuring equipment is returned promptly
  • Maintaining accurate hire records and documentation
  • Checking hire rates, invoices and costs
  • Resolving discrepancies and queries with suppliers
  • Obtaining competitive hire rates and negotiating with suppliers where appropriate
  • Ensuring plant and equipment is available to meet project requirements
  • Working closely with Site Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Contracts Managers
  • Monitoring plant utilisation and identifying opportunities to reduce unnecessary hire costs
  • Supporting the business with general plant and equipment administration

The Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in a Hire Controller, Plant Controller, Plant Administrator or similar role, preferably within the Groundworks, Civil Engineering or Construction sector. You will need to be highly organized, commercially aware and comfortable dealing with multiple requests from busy construction sites. Experience working with plant hire companies, construction equipment suppliers and groundworks contractors would be highly advantageous.
