Job Description

Residential Groundworks Contractor

Location: Nottingham

About the Company

Our client is an established and expanding residential groundworks contractor delivering civil engineering and infrastructure packages on housing developments. With a strong pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for multiple projects.

The Role

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of residential groundworks projects, working closely with site teams and senior commercial management. This role offers autonomy, responsibility, and the opportunity to progress within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full commercial management of residential groundworks schemes
  • Preparing and submitting interim valuations and final accounts
  • Cost control, forecasting, and monthly commercial reporting
  • Procurement of subcontractors and management of subcontractor accounts
  • Valuing variations and managing change control
  • Ensuring commercial risks and opportunities are identified and managed
  • Working closely with site teams to monitor progress and costs
  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required

Candidate Profile

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within residential groundworks, civil engineering, or infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of subcontract procurement and cost management
  • Commercially astute with a proactive approach
  • Confident communicator able to work with site teams, clients, and supply chain
  • Strong IT and reporting skills
