An established and highly respected international civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Bid Writer to join its Work Winning team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in securing major infrastructure and construction projects across a diverse portfolio, including transportation, energy, tunnelling, building, and civil engineering.

As a Senior Bid Writer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality, compelling submissions for pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs), ITTs and tender opportunities. Working closely with Bid Managers, technical specialists and operational teams, you will lead the development of persuasive, client-focused content that demonstrates the organisation's technical expertise, value proposition and competitive advantage.

You will play a key role in driving bid quality, ensuring all submissions are compliant, engaging and delivered to the highest professional standard within challenging deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of high-quality written responses for PQQs, ITTs and tender submissions.
  • Produce compelling, bespoke responses that align with client requirements and scoring criteria.
  • Develop and maintain a library of case studies, project experience, CVs and best practice content.
  • Edit, proofread and quality assure all submission documents to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Bid Managers, subject matter experts and operational stakeholders to gather information and shape winning responses.
  • Support the planning, coordination and finalisation of tender submissions, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
  • Provide guidance on content strategy and contribute to continuous improvement of bid processes and documentation.
  • Mentor and support junior bid writers or coordinators where appropriate, sharing knowledge and best practice.
About You

You will be an experienced Bid Writer or Senior Bid Writer with a proven track record of producing successful tender submissions within the construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or engineering sectors.

You are an exceptional communicator with outstanding written English skills and the ability to transform complex technical information into compelling, client-focused content that differentiates the business from its competitors.

You’ll also have:

  • Demonstrable experience writing high-quality tender and PQQ responses.
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of public and private sector procurement processes.
  • The ability to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly and persuasively.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent bids.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence engaging with senior operational and technical teams.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Previous experience within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or a related technical industry is highly desirable.
