The Role
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of multiple earthworks and drainage schemes.
Working on a hybrid basis, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects from subcontract procurement through to final account, ensuring commercial performance is maximised whilst maintaining strong contractual compliance and cost control.
This role would suit a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor with previous experience working for a civil engineering contractor or specialist subcontractor delivering earthworks, drainage, roads, highways or infrastructure packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of earthworks, drainage and civil engineering projects.
- Preparation of valuations, applications, cost reports and forecasts.
- Management of subcontract accounts from procurement through to final account.
- Administration of NEC and bespoke forms of contract.
- Assessment and agreement of variations and compensation events.
- Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.
- Monitoring project expenditure against budgets.
- Preparation of cash flow forecasts and monthly reporting.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation.
- Working closely with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners to ensure successful project delivery.
Experience & Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering.
- Previous experience managing earthworks and drainage packages is essential.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
- Experience procuring and managing subcontract packages.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Excellent commercial awareness and reporting skills.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
