Site Foreman – Track Drainage Location: Birmingham & Coventry Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience Contract: Permanent Sector: Civil Engineering / Rail Infrastructure The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Foreman to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the Birmingham and Coventry areas. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Foreman with a background in rail, track drainage, groundworks or heavy civils to take a key role in the day-to-day delivery of site activities. You will be responsible for supervising site teams and subcontractors, coordinating resources and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality and programme standards. Key Responsibilities • Supervise day-to-day site activities across track drainage and associated civil engineering works. • Manage and coordinate gangs of operatives and subcontractors. • Oversee drainage installation, pipework, chambers, ducting and associated civils. • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and RAMS. • Coordinate labour, plant, materials and resources to maintain productivity. • Monitor progress and ensure works are delivered in line with the project programme. • Work closely with Site Agents, Sub Agents and Site Engineers to coordinate daily activities. • Brief site teams on daily activities, RAMS and relevant safety requirements. • Ensure all works are completed to the required quality standards. • Identify and report any issues, delays or changes to the site management team. • Maintain accurate site records and provide regular progress updates. • Monitor the performance of subcontractors and ensure works are completed to specification. • Ensure good housekeeping and high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance. • Support the wider project team with the successful delivery of the works. About You The successful candidate will have solid experience working as a Site Foreman, Foreman or Chargehand within civil engineering or rail infrastructure. Experience in track drainage would be highly desirable, although candidates with a strong background in drainage, groundworks or heavy civils will also be considered. You should be a confident and proactive supervisor who can lead a team, manage competing priorities and keep works progressing safely and efficiently. Ideally, you will have: • Previous experience as a Site Foreman or Foreman within civil engineering, rail or infrastructure. • Strong experience in drainage, groundworks and/or heavy civils. • Track drainage experience is highly desirable. • Experience supervising gangs and subcontractors. • Good understanding of construction drawings and RAMS. • Ability to coordinate labour, plant and materials. • Strong health and safety awareness. • Good communication and leadership skills. • Ability to work effectively alongside Site Agents, Sub Agents and Engineers. • Relevant CSCS/Supervisory qualifications. • SMSTS or SSSTS would be advantageous. • Rail experience and relevant rail competencies would be highly desirable.
