The Opportunity

An established and highly respected residential groundworks contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join its growing operational team.

Operating across Staffordshire, Leicestershire and the wider Midlands, our client delivers infrastructure and groundworks packages for a number of the UK's leading national and regional housebuilders.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint a Senior Site Engineer to play a key role in the successful delivery of multiple residential developments.

The Role

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will take responsibility for the engineering function across one or more residential groundworks developments, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately and in line with programme requirements.

You will work closely with Site Managers, Foremen and Commercial teams, providing technical expertise throughout the construction process while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting out roads, sewers, deep drainage, foundations, plot works and external works.
  • Managing and mentoring Site Engineers and Junior Engineers.
  • Producing accurate setting out records and site documentation.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Carrying out quality inspections and ensuring works are completed to specification.
  • Producing as-built surveys and handover documentation.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and local authority inspectors.
  • Supporting programme delivery and resolving technical challenges on site.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Working closely with Contracts Managers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

The successful candidate will have

  • Proven experience within residential groundworks or civil engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of roads & sewers, foundations, drainage and infrastructure works.
  • Experience working on residential developments for national or regional housebuilders.
  • Proficiency with Leica, Trimble or Topcon surveying equipment.
  • Experience using Auto CAD and surveying software.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently while supporting wider project teams.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred). • CSCS Card. • SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable). • First Aid at Work (advantageous).
