We are seeking an experienced Freelance Section Engineer to support the delivery of major water treatment plant upgrades across clean and wastewater projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging schemes within the water sector, contributing to essential infrastructure improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day site activities for sections of work on clean water and wastewater treatment projects
  • Support the delivery of water and wastewater treatment plant upgrades, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and to specification
  • Coordinate subcontractors, plant, materials, and labour
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Assist with short-term planning, method statements, and risk assessments
  • Monitor progress, report on performance, and resolve technical issues on site
  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, designers, and client representatives

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Section Engineer or Site Engineer within the water sector
  • Strong background in water treatment works, including clean water and/or wastewater
  • Experience delivering treatment plant upgrades or refurbishment works
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering practices and site management
  • Ability to work independently and manage sections of work
  • Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
  • CSCS card (essential); SMSTS or equivalent (desirable)
