A brand new Assistant Management Accountant role has been created within a well-established manufacturing business in Lancaster. With the backing from a large and successful parent company, the business has been operating for 50+ years and is firmly rooted in their market. There are succession plans in place for this appointment to develop into a more senior Management Accountant/Finance Manager position over the next couple of years.

Your New Role as Assistant Management Accountant:

Working within a highly skilled finance team, as Assistant Management Accountant your duties will include:

  • Assisting with management accounts production and month-end close
  • Preparing and posting journals
  • Variance analysis for sales, contribution and overheads against budget and previous year
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Provide analysis on operational costs including labour, materials and efficiencies
  • Support with manufacturing product BOM and standard costings
  • Assist in the management of stock
  • Support with the year end accounting process including audit
  • Provide support as required with purchase and sales ledger activities
  • Be a key player in driving continual improvement initiatives
  • Work cross-functionally, supporting operational teams and non-finance staff to deliver meaningful financial insight and advice

Experience & Qualifications Required to Apply:

The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified (or almost qualified), or be actively studying CIMA/ACCA. Experience of working within a manufacturing environment is advantageous, with practical or theoretical knowledge of standard costing systems, BOMs and stock. A good level of confidence with strong communication skills is also required as this role involves plenty of stakeholder interaction. Additionally, you will have an analytical mindset with good IT skills including Excel.
