The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to take ownership of the purchasing function within a growing residential groundworks contractor. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing procurement activities across multiple projects, developing supplier relationships, negotiating favourable terms, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of materials, plant, and subcontract services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the procurement function across multiple residential groundworks projects
- Source and procure materials, plant, and subcontractor packages in line with project requirements
- Negotiate supplier agreements, pricing structures, and framework arrangements
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Monitor market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Work closely with Commercial, Contracts, and Operational teams to ensure procurement requirements are met
- Manage supplier performance and ensure quality and delivery standards are maintained
- Produce procurement reports and cost analyses for senior management
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and procurement policies
- Support project teams with material scheduling and supply chain planning
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Procurement Manager, Buying Manager, Senior Buyer, or Procurement Lead within residential groundworks, civil engineering, or construction
- Strong understanding of groundworks materials, infrastructure products, and construction supply chains
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
- Experience managing procurement across multiple live projects
- Strong commercial awareness and cost management capability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
