Kenton Black are recruiting for a permanent Estimator vacancy based in North East Scotland. Our client, a reputable civils and building contractor with a strong presence across the North East, is seeking a commercially astute and detail-driven Estimator to support their expanding tendering team. With a diverse portfolio spanning infrastructure, groundworks, and building projects, this role offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity—with a competitive salary of £45,000–£55,000 per annum DOE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering and building projects from first principles
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive tender submissions
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
- Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required
- Identify and assess commercial risks and opportunities within tenders
- Collaborate with project managers and commercial teams to ensure alignment of cost and delivery strategies
- Maintain and update estimating databases and cost libraries
What You Bring:
- Proven experience as an Estimator within civil engineering and/or building sectors
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines
- A proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
