Kenton Black are recruiting for a permanent Estimator vacancy based in North East Scotland. Our client, a reputable civils and building contractor with a strong presence across the North East, is seeking a commercially astute and detail-driven Estimator to support their expanding tendering team. With a diverse portfolio spanning infrastructure, groundworks, and building projects, this role offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity—with a competitive salary of £45,000–£55,000 per annum DOE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering and building projects from first principles
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive tender submissions
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
  • Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required
  • Identify and assess commercial risks and opportunities within tenders
  • Collaborate with project managers and commercial teams to ensure alignment of cost and delivery strategies
  • Maintain and update estimating databases and cost libraries

What You Bring:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within civil engineering and/or building sectors
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines
  • A proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
