A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join the delivery team on a landmark £300 million infrastructure scheme in the Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a long-term, high-profile project for one of the UK's leading civils contractors, delivering complex infrastructure works across multiple disciplines.

The Role

As Site Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of major civil engineering works, ensuring quality, accuracy, and programme objectives are achieved. You'll work closely with the Site Agent and Project Management team while overseeing subcontractors and maintaining engineering standards on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting out and surveying for major civil engineering works.
  • Managing and delivering drainage, utilities, highways, earthworks, and reinforced concrete (RC) structures packages.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans).
  • Completing high-quality As-Built records and survey information.
  • Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design specifications and quality requirements.
  • Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, designers, and client representatives.
  • Supporting quality assurance processes and maintaining comprehensive site records.
  • Promoting and maintaining high health and safety standards across the project.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Site Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in drainage, utilities, highways, earthworks, and RC structures.
  • Experience producing and managing ITPs and As-Built documentation.
  • Competent in setting out using modern surveying equipment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • CSCS card essential.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS and First Aid are advantageous.
