We are working with a well-established and highly respected contractor specialising in external works, groundworks, earthworks and civil engineering, operating across the Midlands and Yorkshire regions. With decades of experience, a strong reputation for quality, and a healthy pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to strengthen their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join a business known for delivering technically complex and high-quality projects across both public and private sector clients.
The Role
As Senior Estimator, you will take a leading role in the preparation of competitive tenders for a range of groundworks, external works, and landscaping projects. You will work closely with pre-construction, commercial, and operational teams to ensure accurate pricing and successful bid submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Carrying out take-offs and producing bills of quantities
- Engaging with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
- Supporting bid strategy and tender review meetings
- Working closely with commercial and delivery teams during handover
- Assisting with mentoring and development of junior estimators
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Estimator (or experienced Estimator ready to step up)
- Strong background in groundworks, external works, landscaping, earthworks or civil engineering
- Excellent understanding of estimating processes and commercial risk
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
