A privately owned SME in Carlisle is looking to strengthen their finance team by appointing a new Finance Assistant. This is a brand new role which has been created due to significant growth, resulting from various contract wins through entering new and emerging markets.
Bringing enthusiasm and commitment to this growing business and team, as the new Finance Assistant you will enjoy a diverse role which will provide excellent exposure to the entire spectrum of accounting, receiving support from a hands-on and engaging Finance Director.

As Finance Assistant, you will work in a friendly team of finance staff and report directly to the Finance Director. Responsibilities will include:
- Posting accruals, prepayments and journals
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing VAT returns
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register
- Supporting with credit control
- Assisting the Accounts Assistant with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Payroll processing
- Provision of ad hoc reports and analysis for the FD and management to support decision making
- Communicating with internal non-finance staff to handle queries and provide financial information as needed
The successful candidate will have strong transactional accounting skills (AP, AR, credit control) and ideally have exposure to the month end process, supporting with management accounting duties. Strong Excel skills are required as well as good communication skills as the role will involve liaising with various internal stakeholders in the business.
