A leading multi-million pound civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to support the delivery of key infrastructure and environmental projects across the South West. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established contractor delivering works under Environment Agency frameworks, with a strong pipeline of flood defence, river engineering, and infrastructure improvement schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting out and surveying for a range of civil engineering works, including flood defence and river structures
  • Supporting site management with technical input and quality assurance
  • Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design specifications and project requirements
  • Managing and maintaining accurate site records, including as-builts
  • Liaising with subcontractors, designers, and client representatives
  • Overseeing installation and alignment of debris screens and associated hydraulic structures
  • Ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance on site

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering projects
  • Strong background working on Environment Agency frameworks or similar regulated environmental projects
  • Experience with river works, flood alleviation schemes, or water infrastructure
  • Familiarity with installation and setting out of debris screens or similar assets is highly desirable
  • Proficient with surveying equipment (GPS, Total Station)
  • Strong understanding of QA processes and documentation
  • Valid CSCS card (essential)
  • SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred)
