Our client is a leading international main contractor with an exceptional reputation for delivering some of the world's most complex and technically advanced construction projects. Due to continued growth within their mission-critical division, they are seeking an experienced Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK's flagship new-build hyperscale data centre developments in Northumberland.

This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a high-performing commercial team delivering a landmark project within one of the fastest-growing sectors in construction. Working on a major hyperscale data centre scheme, you will play a key role in the commercial management of significant MEP packages from procurement through to final account.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for the commercial management of major mechanical and electrical works packages across the project. Working closely with project delivery teams, subcontractors, consultants and client representatives, you will help ensure the successful commercial delivery of this highly complex and technically demanding development. This role offers exposure to some of the most advanced MEP installations in the construction industry while providing genuine long-term career progression opportunities within a growing international contractor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial delivery of major MEP packages throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Administer subcontract agreements, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Prepare and manage procurement strategies for mechanical and electrical works.
  • Produce accurate cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow analysis.
  • Monitor package budgets and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance.
  • Assess and manage change events, variations and contractual claims.
  • Work closely with project delivery and engineering teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Support risk management and cost control initiatives across the project.
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors, consultants and client stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company commercial procedures.

About You

We're looking for an experienced commercial professional with a strong understanding of MEP construction and a proven track record working on major projects. You will have:

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
  • Strong experience managing mechanical and electrical packages on large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience working for a recognised main contractor or specialist MEP contractor.
  • Excellent commercial, contractual and procurement knowledge.
  • Strong cost reporting, forecasting and financial management skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts and commercial performance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • The ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced project environment.

Desirable Experience

Previous data centre or mission-critical project experience would be highly advantageous. However, we are also keen to speak with candidates who have delivered major MEP packages within sectors such as:
